It’s time for Five Minute Friday, where we write together on a theme and then linkup here. Today’s theme is fill.
She carried the cup of coffee, full to the brim to my bed, handing it to me as I rose in a sleepy stupor.
This is the only way I know how to wake, with a cup of coffee to stir my mind to what the day holds. To what God is doing.
The day is like an empty cup waiting to be filled with something good.
Fill my day with you, Lord.
I thank my daughter for the coffee and she runs out the room smiling, curls flying, feet thumping down the steps.
If only we could learn to fill each other up in this way, not just with a cup of coffee, but with our words, our love, our presence.
If only we would look to Him to water our thirsty souls and fill our hungry hearts with His daily bread.
Then we will be filled.
We will find ourselves not wanting what this world offers, but only what He offers.
And we will be satisfied.
