I started my blog almost three years ago, a year after my son died.
It was one of the scariest and most life-changing things I ever did.
Back then, I took long walks in the park with my dog–part of my grief ritual–to process my thoughts. I wanted to turn my worst loss into something I could use to help others.
Would telling the story of losing my son be a way to help others going through loss?
My private journal was filled with tears, anger, and questions. But in the depths of emotions, there were also nuggets of truth. I found my true hope and joy in Christ, despite going through this terrible nightmare.
God was teaching me things I wouldn’t have learned without going through a deeply painful trial.
I’ve always said that writing is “free therapy”—the chance to spill your guts on page and get some relief. But sharing my thoughts in a public forum was scary to me. I wrestled with doubt.
Could I really talk about my son’s death without sugarcoating it? Would people want to read the hard stuff of life? Would it all point to God?
Because here’s the thing about life: We all face difficulties and challenges. As women, we need to talk about loss, hardships and trials.
In a Pinterest world, where everyone seems to have it all together, it’s good to know some of us don’t. That we’re hurting. We need each other.
And most of all, we desperately need God.
God uses our losses, mistakes, and trials to encourage others. We can help point others to Christ through our stories.
This blog ministry has opened the door to relationships—both online and in person. I love helping people pursue a deeper relationship with God, to see God work through their struggles and share in that journey of spiritual transformation.
It’s a great honor for me to walk alongside you and affirm the hope you have, the hope that is greater than all the challenges of life.
In this space, I have the chance to reach people I would never reach otherwise.
Here’s Where I Need Your Help!
This summer, I’ve been thinking and praying about this blog/ministry and where it could go. Truthfully, I probably don’t dream big enough. I often doubt. I play it safe.
But I want this to be less about me—because ultimately, it’s about pointing people to the transformational power of Jesus.
And since my largest audience is women, I wondered if you could help me meet their needs? (I do have some faithful male readers too. Thanks you guys! You’re special too, but I need the help of my girlfriends for this one!)
